HalpinRobbins continues research program.

The staff at HalpinRobbins are skilled and knowlegable in a wide range of disciplines and have worked on a variety of specialist and innovative projects as part of commercial operations, to solve clients issues and concerns, and as part of accademic research and its commercial application.

Our staffs work has helped a number of other companies and projects develop ideas and systems in areas of farming (plant, fish and insect), waste water treatment, algal-technologies and renewable energy within standard ISO-shipping containers.

Over the past 20 years the directors of HalpinRobbins have been researching and development low technology mobile waste treatment, energy and farming systems with the objective to produce a micro scale product for deployment in both rural and urban environments in the United Kingdom and abroad that can be used as part of everyday life or as part of a disaster relief package. HalpinRobbins are continuing this work and hope to begin work on two new container system designs in 2016, both combining all four areas of research (renewable energy, waste water treatment and farming).

Examples of the types of individual systems that already exist are:

  • Farming in containers  - Growtainers, FreightFarms, GrowUp, PodPonics
  • Renewable energy  in containers - KraftMaus, PowerGuard, Qube Renewables
  • Waste Water Treatment in containers - IWAT, Delphin, Box4Water
  • Photobioreactors in containers - No commercial systems

Information on the development of insects farming as a sustainable source of protein for animal feed and human nutrition can be found on the PROteINSECT website.

Our work is looking to develop a single system that can be deployed almost anywhere combining all four systems in a format that could have any one system operating alone or in combination with another for the benefit of the local residents and users as well as the overall environment.

If you would like to know more about our research or other projects see our case studies or contact us.

"Nothing is too much trouble and the two way communication is second to none. I would not hesitate to recommend HalpinRobbins to anyone and we wouldn`t even contemplate going anywhere else."
