Case Studies

Our team is built according to our client's needs; we draw on a wide range of expertise to build a suitable team, but always maintaining a single point of contact within HalpinRobbins. This point of contact will usually be one of our founders or senior staff:

Bayham Abbey EcIA

HalpinRobbins undertook an Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) at Bayham Abbey, Tunbridge Wells to help facilitate the restoration of a 5.5 hectare lake and protect and enhance the quality of the surrounding adjacent ancient woodland.

Work commenced with an initial site assessment undertaken in accordance Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) Guidelines for Preliminary Ecological Appraisal focusing on plant communities, habitats and United Kingdom and European protected and invasive species.

This initial assessment was combined with liaison with the local planning authority and county ecologist to define the scope of the Ecological Impact Assessment.

To meet the agreed scope of the EcIA additional detailed survey was required of the ancient woodland and for bats, Dormouse, ground flora, invasive species, reptiles, Otter and Water vole.

The EcIA work concluded that the project would have negligible negative impact on the immediate and local area habitat and species and with careful project procedure implementation would have a moderate beneficial impact due to the removal and treatment of several invasive species.
